About

Fingal Poetry Festival

Organised by Poetry @ the Mills

Arising from a popular annual Poetry at the Mills event in Skerries, in 2020 we expanded our offering of poetry and music to a full weekend festival, the Fingal Poetry Festival. Expect iconic Skerries locations, old and new, to feature in the programme, making the most of the interaction between art and the natural and built environment of our town.

As always, our vision for our festival is that it should present the very best of poetry and music from Ireland and elsewhere, both in English and in Irish, in an atmosphere that is welcoming, friendly and inclusive. Tá sé an-thábhachtach dúinn, agus mar rún againn, go mbeadh Gaeilge ann do phobal ár bhféile agus mar chuid dár bhféile, gach bliain. ISL interpretation will once again feature at several events and all of our venues will be fully accessible.

Special guest poets will be joined by more local voices and invited musicians for a celebration of poetry and music.

The festival core team consists of

  • Ernestine Woelger, Festival Chair
  • Enda Coyle-Greene, Artistic Director/English Language Curator
  • Ceaití Ní Bheildiúin, Irish Language Curator
  • Sarah May Rogers, Musical Director
  • Seána Kelly, Hon. Treasurer
  • Angela Murphy, Hon. Secretary
  • Matthew Kelly, Artist and Illustrator
  • Laura Broadhead, Youth and YA Coordinator

  • Julie Smirnova, PR wizard
  • Sabine McKenna, Web Design and Eventbrite Management

The Festival would not be possible without the support and hard work of all our volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for the festival in September please email us: fingalpoetryfestival@gmail.com.

We also receive huge support from local businesses around the town of Skerries and look forward to working with you all again.

Funding for the 2024 festival from Fingal County Council, the Arts Council and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature is gratefully acknowledged. With support from Poetry Ireland.
