We are invited into Prosper Fingal’s beautiful new Skerries premises! Join us in in the heart of Skerries in the shadow of Skerries’ iconic Monument for poetry, song, and a cuppa, as we celebrate poetry with the winners of the Fingal Poetry Prize and An Fiach Dubh. With readings by our special guests, this year’s judges, poets Peter Sirr and Bríd Ní Mhóráin and with music by Lola Rose.
And on your way in, don’t miss the display of the fabulous artwork produced during the Festival’s Prosper Fingal morning art and poetry workshop!

The festival events for the BIG POETRY DAY OUT / Lá Mór Filíochta are timed so that you can come to Skerries by train or bus, spend the day enjoying the Fingal Poetry Festival events all over town and leave after the last event of a fun and refreshing day, enveloped in sea air, poetry, music and art…
The last train from Skerries leaves at 10.29 pm (subject to timetable changes coming in late August), and there is a bus to Dublin at 11.27 pm from Strand Street.

Peter Sirr
Peter Sirr lives in Dublin. The Gallery Press has published his eleven poetry collections since Marginal Zones (1984), most recently The Swerve (2023) and The Gravity Wave (2019) which was a Poetry Society Recommendation and winner of the 2020 Farmgate Café National Poetry Award. In his essays, Intimate City (2020), he takes us wandering through the streets of Dublin, past and present, tracing old routes and discovering new ones. He has won many awards for his work including the O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry, the Patrick Kavanagh Award, the Eamon Keane Award at Listowel Writers’ Week and the Michael Hartnett Award. He’s written plays for radio, a children’s book and criticism. He teaches literary translation in Trinity College and has led many workshops and mentoring sessions and is a member of Aosdána.
Peter Sirr was the judge of the 2024 Fingal Poetry Prize.


Bríd Ní Mhóráin
Is file agus scríbhneoir próis í Bríd Ní Mhóráin. Tá ocht gcnuasach filíochta foilsithe aici agus Flóra na Samhlaíochta an cnuasach is déanaí dá cuid. Bhain an leabhar sin áit amach ar ghearrliosta Dhuaisleabhar na Bliana, 2022. Bhuaigh Bríd an 1ú duais i gComórtas Filíochta Dhún Laoire/Ráth an Dúin do dhán Gaeilge, 2005. Chnuasaigh sí ana chuid duaiseanna filíochta eile chomh maith ag stadanna difriúla, duaiseanna ón Oireachtas san áireamh. Bronnadh dámhachtainí Ealaín na Gaeltachta agus na Comhairle Ealaíon uirthi go rialta, mar scribhneoir, thar na blianta.
An saothar is úire dá cuid próis ná athleaganacha de fiche scéal ó Leabhar Sheáin Í Chonaill, a chruthaigh sí fé scéim de chuid Chomhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh agus Choláiste Ollscoile Chorcaí, leaganacha oiriúnach do léitheoirí óga. Beidh siad seo foilsithe ag An Gúm i 2025.
Ceapadh Bríd Ní Mhóráin ina scríbhneoir cónaitheach d’Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne i 2003 agus lean sí sa ról sin go dtí 2018.
Bríd Ní Mhóráin, M. Litt., has published eight poetry collections and prose works. Her most recent collection, Flóra na Samhlaíochta was shortlisted for Irish Language Book of the Year 2022. She was awarded the Dún Laoire/Rathdown Irish Language Poetry Prize in 2005. She has won prizes for both her poetry and prose at An tOireachtas (1988, 1989, 1992). She has received multiple Arts Council and Ealaín na Gaeltachta bursaries over the course of her writing career.
Bríd was commisioned by Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh, together with UCC, to create modern versions of of the renowned folklore stories of Seán Í Chonaill for young Irish language readers. These are due to be published in book form by An Gúm in 2025.
She was appointed writer in residence by Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne (co-funded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta) in 2003 and followed on in that role until 2018.
Bríd Ní Mhóráin was the judge of the 2024 An Fiach Dubh Comórtas Filíochta.

Lola Rose
Lola Rose is an independent artist from North County Dublin. Writing her own songs and performing since the age of 14, Lola has always had her head in the door of the music scene in Dublin.
Debuting with her band Ciúnas in a sold out show in the Grand Social in March of 2023, Lola has been gigging with various bands around Ireland since.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, CMAT and The Cranberries, Lola’s music reflects the experiences faced as a young queer woman in our world today.
