The festival events for the BIG POETRY DAY OUT / Lá Mór Filíochta are timed so that you can come to Skerries by train or bus, spend the day enjoying the Fingal Poetry Festival events all over town and leave after the last event of a fun and refreshing day, enveloped in sea air, poetry, music and art…

The last train from Skerries leaves at 10.29 pm (subject to timetable changes coming in late August), and there is a bus to Dublin at 11.27 pm from Strand Street.

She is a recipient of the Arts Council’s Next Generation Artist Award and a co-recipient of The Markievicz Award. Her writing for stage has been performed at The Abbey National Theatre of Ireland.

The Yale Review has reported that Ní Churreáin “often captures a whole world of cultural and historical implications in a single, simple, but metaphorically rich image”. Ní Churreáin has held literary fellowships in the U.S. and throughout Europe. Philip Cummings

Bhuaigh Philip Néalta (Coiscéim), a chéad chnuasach filíochta, duais na Gaeilge Glen Dimplex 2006, agus bhí sé ar an ghearrliosta don Rupert and Eithne Strong Award 2006. Bhí an dara cnuasach leis, An Fear sa Ghealach (Coiscéim), ar an ghearrliosta do Ghradam Filíochta Mhíchíl Uí Airtnéide 2012. Foilsíodh an tríú cnuasach, ad delectationem stultorum (Coiscéím) in 2012, ach ní raibh duaiseanna ar bith ag gabháil an bhliain sin.

Tá duaiseanna Oireachtais bainte aige don léirmheastóireacht ar an fhilíocht agus do dhráma raidió, agus bhuaigh dán leis Corn Uí Néill 2013.

Bhí sé ina eagarthóir ealaíon leis an nuachtán laethúil Lá Nua ó 2003 go dtí 2008, áit ar scríobh sé colún greannmhar aorach maraon le léirmheasanna. Foilsíodh díolaim de na colúin in Dar Liom (Coiscéim, 2008).

According to one of his fellow-poets, “Cummings is ploughing in a beautiful field of his own in Modern-Irish poetry.” To date, this agricultural activity has been on show in three individual collections. He has also published a collection of satirical columns from his days as Arts Editor of an Irish-language daily newspaper, when such a thing existed in print.
