The Blanchardstown Poetry Slam

We are thrilled to announce that the #FPF24 Blanchardstown Poetry Slam will return to Blanchardstown Library on June 19th! Anyone can sign-up to perform, so keep an eye on the website and on our Eventbrite page for details.

Our monthly slams have become a cornerstone of the festival, bringing together poets, musicians, and friends from all over to celebrate the powerful art of spoken word. They provide poets of all levels with a space to share their work, support one another, and compete for the chance to perform at the Grand Slam during Fingal Poetry Festival, 13-15th September 2024.  You can read all about them, with new photos as the slams happen, on the Fingal Poetry Festival Poetry Slams 2024 Page!

A Glimpse Back at Last Year’s Blanch Slam

Last year’s Blanchardstown Poetry Slam was an enchanting night. We were joined by a talented line-up of poets – for some of them, it was there first time ever performing in front of a crowd! Caoimhe Weakliam and Adele Leahy took home the top honours after serious deliberation by our judging panel.

We were also privileged to have Jimbo Dillon as our Featured Poet. His performances are a masterclass in rhythm and he’ll always leave the stage with a chorus of “Make Ireland Grand Again” behind him!

RVE provided the perfect musical backdrop, weaving her soulful melodies between readings. And of course, it was all made possible by our volunteers and host Sheila Ryder, who guides us through the evening with sensitivity, warmth, and joy.

We can’t wait to see you all in Blanchardstown again on June 19th!
